Established by the Kona Coffee Farmer’s Association and the Kona Coffee Council, the 100% Kona Seal of Approval assures gourmet 100% Kona Coffee is in the bag.

The Kona Coffee Farmer’s Association and the Kona Coffee Council certifies that each farm using the seal is following all of the following requirements:

  • All coffee is grown within the borders of North and South Kona Districts, Hawaii Island.
  • Said coffee meets the State of Hawaii's green Grading Standards as adopted under Chapter 147, Hawaii Revised Statutes.
  • The producer of said coffee volunteers to fill out an attached green miller's audit trail. This establishes a trust between the producer and the buyer. This audit trail remains confidential unless a complaint arises as to the validity of the product.

The Kona Coffee Farmer’s Association checks out each farm to make sure you are receiving only 100% Kona Coffee.

Look for the 100% Seal of Approval on every bag of Rowesview Coffee Farm coffee you buy.

The Estate Program
The Kona Coffee Council also has the Estate Program. It insures that the coffee you are drinking is coming from one farm and not many farms. Here in Kona there are many little farms of approximate size 5-10 acres of land and about 2/3 of that land is planted in coffee. These farmers grow small amounts of coffee and many prefer to just sell the coffee cherry (what we call the beans just ready to pick) to the bigger processors.

When a farm wants to sell its own coffee under its own label, it may become part of the Estate Program and use "Estate" in their marketing programs.

There are several criteria to be met before a farm can be considered a member of the program: Must be a member of the Kona Coffee Council.

  • The coffee must be grown from one farm.
  • The farmer must own or lease the land on which the coffee grows.
  • The farm must be well tended under normal agricultural standards.
  • The harvested coffee must be kept separate from the crops of other farms and under control of the farmer with a paper trail as the control mechanism.
  • The coffee is of consistently 100% Kona quality and meets the State of Hawaii green grading standards as adopted under Chapter 147, Hawaii Revised Statutes standards (only prime or better).
  • The coffee workers are treated with respect.
